Like most states, North Carolina distributes its Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits according to the same schedule every month. In the Tar Heel State, benefits are paid between the 3rd and the 21st of the month, based on the last digit of your Social Security number. That will also be the case in October 2022.
North Carolina’s SNAP program — which is referred to as Food and Nutrition Services (FNS) — is administered by the NC Department of Health and Human Services (NCDHSS). SNAP benefits are deposited into North Carolina Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) cards.
SNAP, formerly known as food stamps, is a federal program that provides food-purchasing assistance to low-income households. Although it is part of the U.S. Department of Agriculture, the program is administered at the state level.
All SNAP recipients, including those in North Carolina, will get a financial boost thanks to a major cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) due to go into effect for fiscal year 2023. The COLA kicks in starting Oct. 1, 2022, and will hike the maximum monthly benefit by 12.5%.

The extra food stamp (FNS/SNAP) payment, officially called Emergency Allotments, will end in February 2023. Starting in March, you will only get your regular food stamp payment loaded to your EBT card. There will be no second payment later in the month.

Starting Oct. 1, 2023, the maximum monthly benefit for a family of four will be $973, up from $939. SNAP benefits will increase by about 3.6% for the 2024 fiscal year, which is not enough to cover the rise in food-at-home costs in the past year.
Maximum Monthly Benefit: In the fiscal year 2024, the maximum monthly SNAP benefit for a single-person household is $291. This amount is the upper limit and is designed to meet the nutritional needs as defined by the USDA's Thrifty Food Plan.

Utility bills like water, electricity, and gas are important bills that are considered for SNAP eligibility. They are bills that largely contribute to having a healthy and secure environment.
If you do not tell the truth about changes in your household, you may have to pay back the Food Stamp benefits you receive. You may also be disqualified from receiving food stamps for 12 months, 24 months, or permanently, and be fined, imprisoned, or both.
Individuals that were never committed to custody may regain eligibility for FNS benefits six months after the date of conviction, provided there has been no additional controlled substance felony convictions within six months of the first conviction and all other requirements are met.
An adult ages 19-64 may be eligible if the family income is $2,351/month or less. An adult ages 65+ may be eligible for full Medicaid if the family income is $1,704/month or less, and for other programs if the family income is $2,300/month or less. Additional requirements apply.
What time do SNAP benefits get deposited in Texas? Typically, food assistance and cash benefits are loaded onto the EBT card between midnight and 08:00 on the designated deposit date.
REMEMBER: Both cash and SNAP benefits are posted to EBT accounts between midnight and 6 a.m. each day. After 6 a.m. no additional benefits are added to EBT accounts.
Any benefits that clients have remaining in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) Electronic benefit transfer (EBT) account at the end of the month will be carried over in the next month.
