    Very helpful

First, the book I bought was used, but was in excellent condition. I couldn't tell it was used. The content of the book itself is very good. Probably, as most people would say, I wish I knew all this when I was younger. The only negative is that the book was written a few years ago, and there are differences now in how people pay. It says we should balance our checkbook. This was fine for the time when people used checks, but debit cards are mainly used now. An update to the book with suggestions on how to track spending would be beneficial to today's spender. In all, I loved the book. I gave it to my two grown daughters to read, to help them start off on the right foot financially.

I wish I had this knowledge years ago!

I was introduced to this book by a friend who had taken some of his classes and benefitted from them. I have still yet to finish the book, but I have already begun rethinking my financial situation. I really wish that I was offered this information right out of high school, and then re-introduced to it after college. The information is not presented with terminology that seems like a foreign language that you have to have a prior knowledge of, and at the same time does not make me feel like I'm being talked down to. It also does not read like a text book, rather like someone who is truly having a real conversation with you, explaining something they know all about. What I really like about this text is that he injects real experiences and situations that all of us have been victim to, including Dave and his wife, so it is relatable and, simply put, helpful. I want everyone in my family to read this book as well, so they can benefit from this understanding and approach to your finances. And it's all very do-able, you don't have to sell all your belongings and live on ramen noodles for the rest of your life. He covers everything from credit cards to vehicle purchases to home loans to investments to gas and grocery purchases. I originally checked this book out from the library and still ended up buying it because its a book that I will definitely revisit later in life, and probably lend it to a friend who will benifit from it as well. Everyone needs to read this book!Read full review

    Required Reading!!

This is the first financial book I've read that has explained money in terms I could understand and where I had several "aha, I get it now" moments. It is written by someone who has actually lived the riches to rags to riches life.My family began following the baby steps outlined in Financial Peace revisited about 4 years ago and we are well on our way to being completely debt-free. Between ideas gleaned from Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace and Amy Dacycyzn's Tightwad Gazette, we've been able to successfully maintain a 6 person family on one income in the metro Baltimore/Washington area for the past 10 years. We've gone from maxing out the credit cards on our honeymoon, to paying off student loans, three credit cards, a second mortgage and two cars. There is a Christian overtone to the book. For some this is off-putting. For me, it was the only financial how-to book that took faith into consideration. I can still pay a full tithe and be debt-free! I don't have to make that choice between "I can't afford to pay tithing, but I can't afford not to." It is a one-size fits all plan, because you will tailor your budget according to your own needs (and wants). You are in charge of determining your own financial priorities.I especially appreciated the forms and letters in the back of the book. They will walk you through your own personal written budget. They will help you clear your credit report. They can even help cease the annoying credit collection phone calls! This is the fourth copy of the book I've purchased - I've given away the other three copies. It makes a great wedding present for the young newlyweds just starting off on their own. It makes a great anniversary or birthday gift for friends and family who are looking at a bleak financial future. It makes a great gift for yourself to bring a sense of peace and security into your life.Read full review

    Simply Great!

Dave Ramsey is a Christian and teaches Christian values along with his message on debt. "Getting-out" of debt is not about finding ways to avoid paying it--like so many scams on the market today! "Getting-out" of debt is--YOU taking responsibility for your actions of creating the debt and deciding to really do something about getting it PAID-OFF in FULL.Buy this book today! You can even start working on the strategies before the book arrives. Begin by NEVER borrowing money again -- do this today! That includes credit cards, family & friends, the pay-day loan store, home equity loans, debt consolidations, even CAR loans -- all designed to keep you strangled by debt! And begin to work on putting $1000 in the bank as your "emergency fund", today.Once the book arrives, you'll be eager to begin your journey to financial freedom. This book teaches things that I've never heard anywhere else. I'm living "Debt-Free"; except for a small amount remaining on my mortgage which I should be finished paying in about 2 years. And the money is building up really fast in my retirement plans! Life couldn't be better! Thanks Dave!Read full review
