People also worship Goddess Kali and Goddess Lakshmi on this day. Homemade sweets and dishes are prepared and relished with family and friends. One of the most well-known ways of celebrating Diwali is by bursting crackers.

In the story, Rama and Sita were exiled for 14 years. They defeated a demon and finally came back home, which represents the triumph of light over dark.
