Frequently Asked Questions

Can I hurt myself when waxing my nose hair?

It is important to follow all directions, warnings and precautions detailed in the instruction leaflet before use. Failure to follow these instructions may result in skin irritation, burns or other injury.

Can I re-use Nad's Wax Strips?

Yes! Re-use a Nad's Wax Strip by simply folding the strip in half so that the wax is on the inside. Massage the strip with your fingers, slowly separate the strip and continue waxing. Repeat this process until the strip is no longer effective.

NOTE: Waxing your face? It's important NOT to wax the same area twice as repeated waxing of this delicate area can cause irritation. Always follow the instructions to prepare the skin and wax strips before you commence waxing to ensure you remove as much hair as possible with one treatment.

Can I re-use the Nad’s SafeTip™ applicator?

No. The Nad’s SafeTip™ applicator is designed for single-use only. The SafeTip™ end of the applicator is to be used once inside the nose to remove nose hair and the Spatula end of the applicator is to be used once on the surface of the nose to remove hair growing on the surface of the nose..

Can I use Nad's Hair Removal Cream two days in a row?

You should only need to use Nad's Hair Removal Cream 1-3 weeks apart. Always wait at least 48 hours’ in-between uses.

Can the Hair Removal Cream change colour?

Yes. If the tube cap is not properly sealed after each use and air gets into the product, the cream may turn a yellowish shade which can reduce the effectiveness of the cream. Ensure cream is wiped from tube tip and cap is properly sealed after each use. Best stored in a cool, dry area.

Does the cream contain Peroxide?

No

Does the Nads Hair Removal Body Butter contain Peroxide?

No, Nad's Hair Removal Body Butter does not contain Peroxide.

Don’t I need my nose hair?

Nose hair is a natural and necessary part of the body, however it can overgrow its area. Nad’s SafeTip™ applicator is designed to remove the hair around the edge of the nostril, only targeting the hairs that are sticking out or easily noticed. There is still plenty of hair remaining within the nose and nasal cavity to perform the required physiological functions.

Even after 10 minutes no hair was removed. Why?

If no hair comes off, it may be because your hair is fair and unfortunately due to lack of pigmentation fair hair can sometimes not be removed. The skin must be completely clean and dry before applying the cream. It must be liberally applied, and can be massaged with the fingertips to ensure that all sides of the hair is completely covered. Always make sure that the hands are washed immediately after applying the cream.

How big an area should I treat at one time?

This depends on which area you are treating - the more sensitive the area, the smaller the treated area should be. In very sensitive areas, we recommend you do not put on more than 2 to 3 cm at a time. Whereas if it is the bikini line, you can treat large patches up to 10 cm.

How do I wash the re-usable cotton wax strip?

Simply rinse the cotton wax strips in warm water and allow for them to dry before re-using.

How long must I wait between waxes?

You should only need to wax every 3 to 6 weeks. Wait at least 24 hours before waxing again. Do not wax the same area twice in a single waxing session.

When using a Sugar Wax, Gel Wax or Hard Wax, the hair needs to be at least 2-5mm in length.

When using a Wax Strip, the hair needs to be at least 2-5mm in length.

How long will the nose hair take to grow back?

Approximately 3 weeks.

How many uses can I get out of the Ingrow Solution?

  • 125 ml: Approx 10-12 uses
  • 50 ml: Approx 5 uses

How many uses can I get out of the Nad’s Nose Wax?

Each Nad’s Nose Wax comes with enough wax and applicators to perform two complete treatments.

How many uses do you get out of a jar?

  • Natural Sugar Wax 370g - 2 uses for a full leg wax.
  • Natural Sugar Wax 170g 1 use for a full leg wax.
  • Eco Salon Wax 300g 2 uses for a full leg wax.
  • Charcoal Bead Wax 400g, 2 uses for a full leg wax.
  • Charcoal Bead Wax 200g 1 use for a full leg wax.
  • Original Gel 170g 1 use for a full leg wax.
  • Waxing Dots 200g 1 use for a full leg wax.

I came up with a pimply rash and/or skin was removed. Why?

A pimply rash is quote common and is the skin's reaction to having hair pulled from the root.

If the skin has been removed then it is not being held taut and also the strip is being applied over the same spot more than once. Also, if the skin is excessively dry; this could make the skin susceptible to tearing if waxed.

I developed a rash after using Hair Removal Cream, what went wrong?

As depilatory creams have to be very alkaline to dissolve the hair, they can sometimes cause irritation to sensitive skins which is why we always recommend a patch test to ensure your skin is suitable for treatment with a depilatory cream.

Remember it's important to patch test the area you wish to treat as some areas are more sensitive than others. Check the precautions on pack to ensure the area you wish to treat is suitable for treatment with a depilatory cream.

I developed a rash/burn

Did you complete a test patch on the area to be treated and did you wait 24hrs before commencing full treatment to confirm your skin suitability?

How was the cream removed? It is important to remove the cream in the shower with running water to ensure every trace of cream is removed.

Did you experience any tingling, stinging or burning during use? The cream should be washed off immediately if any of these sensations are experienced.

I have developed a rash/irritation - this shouldn't happen with natural ingredients, right?

In our experience, it's not usually the ingredients that cause irritations to develop, but we always recommend following the instructions on the pack to perform a patch test at least 24 hours before proceeding with full application.

It's quite normal to experience a little redness or spots with any wax, especially if you're new to it. Occasionally if the Gel is applied too thickly, you may experience a little irritation or even bruising if you've needed to tug at the skin to remove the strip or not held the skin taut as you've removed the strip.

NOTE: If you have a skin condition, always check the precautions in the instruction leaflet to ensure yours is a suitable skin type.

I have developed bruising. Why?

Bruising may be a result of either applying too thick a layer of gel or not holding your skin taut enough. Whilst this is rare, bruising may occur in some situations as a result of;

  • applying the gel too thickly. It is important to apply a thin layer of gel to prevent the product from tugging the skin when the strip is removed
  • failing to hold the skin taught when removing the strip. It is important to keep the skin taut to minimise movement of the skin and hence prevent bruising
  • diabetes. Diabetics are prone to bruising due to poor blood circulation
  • Pre existing skin or circulatory issues.

NOTE: If you have a skin condition, always check the recautions in the instruction leaflet to ensure yours is a suitable skin type.

I have experienced bruising/swelling/irritation, what's gone wrong?

There are a number of reasons why bruising, swelling and/or irritation may occur so it's important to ALWAYS read the precautions and perform a patch test before treatment to ensure you're skin is suitable.

  • Here are some of the things to look out for. Refer to the precautions for more information.
  • Are you a diabetic/take oral retinoids(antibiotics)/is your skin very inelastic or dry? If so, you should not be using this product. For a detailed explanation of suitable skins types, you should refer to our instruction leaflet.
  • Did you remember to keep the skin taut as you pulled the strip off? This is essential to prevent bruising/swelling/irritation.
  • Did you pull the strip up rather than close to the skin? This can cause bruising/swelling/irritation.
  • Did you go over the same area more than twice on your face? Do not re-wax the area if your skin is irritated.
  • Did you use the product just before or during your period? Your skin is really sensitive during this time and I wouldn’t recommend waxing until after your period. You will find that it will be a far less painful experience then.
  • Was the hair very long? We advise to trim the hair to 5mm, as longer hair will be more painful to remove and you might experience bruising/swelling/irritation.

NOTE: It's quite normal to experience a little redness or spots after waxing, especially if you're new to it. Always perform a patch test in the area to be treated and wait at least 24 hours to ensure any redness subsides before proceeding with waxing.

I have experienced bruising/swelling/irritation when using the product, what did I do wrong?

  • Do you have any prior experience in waxing? Either with cold wax, warm wax or hard wax? The bikini area is a particularly sensitive area; I would recommend you practice on a less sensitive area like your leg before you proceed with the bikini area.
  • Are you a diabetic/take oral retinoids/is your skin very inelastic or dry?
If so, you should not be using this product. For a detailed explanation of suitable skins types, you should refer to our instruction leaflet.
  • Was the hair very long?
We advise to trim the hair to 3mm, as longer hair will be more painful to remove and you might experience bruising/swelling/irritation.
  • Did you remember to keep the skin taut as you pulled the wax off?
This is essential to prevent bruising/swelling/irritation.
  • Did you pull the wax up rather than close to the skin?
    This can cause bruising/swelling/irritation.
  • Did you go over the same area more than twice?
Do not re-wax the area if your skin is irritated.
  • Did you use the product just before or during your period?
Your skin is really sensitive during this time and I wouldn’t recommend waxing until after your period. You will find that it will be a far less painful experience then.

If it is none of the above: unfortunately some people are more susceptible to bruising/swelling/irritation than others, this is why we recommend you try the wax on a small area first and wait for 24 hours before commencing treatment.

I have noticed that there are acids in Ingrow Solution, won’t they be harmful to my skin?

There are very low levels of acids in Ingrow Solution which are not harmful to the skin*. These are included in the formula to gently remove the buildup of dead skin that prevents new hair from growing through the skin, which can cause ingrown hairs.

*We recommend patch testing before applying Ingrow Solution to the skin. See the pack for instructions on how to perform a patch test.

Is it painful?

The quicker you pull the SafeTip™ applicator out of the nose, the more effective and less painful the hair removal result actually is. You’ll feel a slight pull and short after-tingle that only lasts a few seconds.

Is it painful to remove hair with this cream?

Hair Removal Creams should not cause any discomfort. However, if you experience any tingling or burning sensation, we recommend to thoroughly remove the product immediately.

Is it painful to wax with this product?

Pulling hair from the root can cause some discomfort with some individuals. We recommend to avoid waxing the sensitive areas during or on the days leading up to menstruation.

Is it possible for the wax to get stuck up the nose?

Nad’s Nose Wax is specially formulated to harden and stick to the Nad’s SafeTip™ applicator as well as to the hair around the edge of the nostril. The hardened wax will be removed from the nose with the applicator when it is pulled out. It is important to follow the correct wax setting times detailed in the instruction leaflet to ensure the wax has set properly to prevent any residue from remaining in the nostril.

Is it safe to use Nad’s Hair Removal Products on a tattoo? Would it fade or ruin the tattoo in any way?

We recommend ensuring that the tattoo has completely healed first and to complete a small test patch on the area before full treatment.

No hair came off when I used the Hair Removal Wax. Why has this happened?

Hair may not come out if:

  • You use the Nad’s Soothing & Finishing oil wipes before using the wax.
  • The area was not clean, dry and oil-free.
  • Your skin was not held taut.
  • You did not pull off in the opposite direction of hair growth.
  • If you slowly pulled or dragged the wax off.
  • If your hair was shorter than 3mm. The wax will not grip onto shorter hair.

No hair was removed. Why?

Did you complete a test patch on the area to be treated? If yes, was all the hair removed on the test patch? How long did you leave the cream on for? If all the hair is not removed after 4 minutes, leave the cream on longer without exceeding 10 minutes in total.

Ensure a thick and even layer of the cream is applied, making sure each hair strand is completely covered by the cream. The cream should have a smooth, white consistency. If the tube cap is not properly sealed after each use and air gets into the product, the cream may turn a yellowish shade which can reduce the effectiveness of the cream. Ensure cream is wiped from tube tip and cap is properly sealed after each use.

The gel is thick and hard to spread - is this normal?

In order for the Facial Wand Eyebrow Shaper to work well on the face it needs to be a fairly thick consistency. The gel itself also adapts to the surrounding temperature so you may find it will thicken in the colder months. The gel will soften by rubbing the Wand between your hands for 30 seconds. Alternatively, place the Wand in a cup of hot water for 2 minutes, tip facing upwards, water level no higher than the ® symbol. Subsequently apply the gel slowly to the area you wish to treat and it will melt with your body heat as it goes on.Important - DO NOT place the wand in the microwave.

The Hair Removal Gel Wax has changed in appearance - what has happened?

The product is affected by humidity. If it is stored in the bathroom it will change in appearance. If water, steam or foreign materials enter the product, they will also cause a change.

The wax breaks off in pieces when I try to remove it, what went wrong?

You may have applied the wax too thinly. The hair needs to be completely covered. Also, the wax may have been left on the skin too long. The wax should be pliable when removed (not brittle).

The wax wasn’t softened after I put it in the microwave for the recommended period of time, what should I do?

Put the jar back in the microwave for 10-second increments until it has the consistency of thick honey. You might find that there is a ‘hot spot’ in the jar – a spot where the wax is completely fluid with hard wax around it. Leave the wax for 1 minute and then gently stir it mixing the more fluid parts with the hard parts. Please remember to test a little bit on the inside of your wrist to check the temperature before proceeding with the treatment.

What areas of the body can I use Brazilian and Bikini Wax on?

Brazilian and Bikini Wax is suitable for areas with thicker, coarser unwanted hair like the bikini area and underarms.

For legs and arms, we recommend you use one of our other hair removal products: Nad’s Body Wax Strips, Nad’s Natural Hair Removal Gel, Nad’s Warm Wax, or Nad's Hair Removal Crème. For the face we recommend removing unwanted hair with Nad’s Facial Wand Eyebrow Shaper or Nad’s Facial Hair Removal Strips.

What are cilia?

Cilia are microscopic hairs on the surface of the respiratory tract that draw up mucus which traps any smaller foreign particles that the nose hairs may have missed. The Nad's Hair Removal Body Butter has a fruity, sweet, musky scent.

What do I do if I accidentally get the wax in a place where I do not want to remove hair?
