Pokémon and its horde of cuddly monsters made their first appearance in 1995. Little Pikachu of the wildly popular Pokémon franchise is now a young adult. Pokémon Go, the 2016 augmented reality version of the older Nintendo version, has had exemplary performance in the market.

As of 2020, the smash hit collectible card game has surpassed a four billion-lifetime revenue. Pokémon is an expansive game, with tons of characters. You can tame dragons and go on adventure in its scenic landscapes.

Like Pokemon, Ethermon is a monster training game. Ethermon however has one ace up its sleeve. You can catch all your monsters and secure them on blockchain. Ethermon launched in 2017 as Etheremon. It is one of the oldest blockchain game platforms on Ethereum.

In 2019, Etheremon rebranded to Ethermon. A cross-platform monster raising game, you can train, catch, and rear your virtual monsters for monetary value. Ethermon monsters, also known as Mons, only need to get battle-ready to fetch the coolest stuff or battle other players.

All Ethermon monsters are NFTs (non-fungible tokens). The blockchain game runs on the Ethereum network meaning that Mon ownership is immutably recorded on a blockchain.

You will have complete ownership of your Mons, selling, trading, or giving them away as you wish. In addition, the power of blockchain technology makes it easy to verify NFT assets meaning that you can quickly identify your Mons and prove original ownership.

You do not need to sell your Ethermon monsters on the black market to earn some cash off your favorite pastime. Instead, sell them on the Ethermon marketplace or other NFT trading platforms such as OpenSea. Blockchain consensus mechanisms will eliminate the ‘double spend’ problem, securing and guaranteeing payments in the open Ethermon marketplace.

There will never be two replicas of your NFTs. Therefore, there can never be a fake NFT of your Mon. Better still, your Ethermon NFTs are indestructible and indivisible. The developers at Ethermon cannot recall, ban, or take over ownership of in-game assets. The player, rather than the game creator, has all NFT assets ownership rights.

In sharp contrast, players who spend their cash on legacy games such as Pokemon have difficulty recouping their investments. Pokémon players can sell their accounts or cards but have to survive the market’s undercutting tactics.

As an illustration, US Target has banned the sale of Pokemon cards after a man pulled a gun over trading cards in a Target parking lot. Some school districts have banned Pokemon cards because wheeling-dealing activities around them disrupt the learning environment. The demand for the cards has led to theft as little hustlers build their illegal Pokémon empires.

Niantic, Pokémon developers, can also deactivate accounts sold in the black market. Finally, you would think that the Pokémon card’s owner should have all the intellectual rights to it. Not at all! The card’s design details, symbols, and artwork all belong to the game’s creators.

Ethermon has over 160 Mons categorized as per their type, battle power, forms, gens, and total catches. The beauty of Ethermon is its simplicity. Blockchain games may be rising in popularity, but most of them are not easy to use, especially to new blockchain gamers.

While off-chain games work after a simple app download, most blockchain games have an upfront payment for gas fees and need a wallet. Ethermon may be a cryptocurrency game, but it lowers the barrier of entry through free game play.

Using their free Mons, new players can navigate the Ethermon lands, meet, and battle other players. Consequently, they can only commit to Ethermon if they love the game.

Ethermon is now on Decentraland, the largest virtual world running on the Ethereum network. Using the Ethermon in-game ERC token, EMONT, players can now join a vibrant play-to-earn environment on blockchain.

On Decentraland, players can earn EMONT for battling Mons and as gifts in the game’s adventure mode. In addition, the game’s developers are strategizing on creating a Decentraland Ethermon district in the vast virtual world for 3D gameplay.

Ethermon players will earn MASK credits in Decentraland that pay for the minting of NFTs. Alternatively, they can mine MASK to sell or burn their Mon NFTs for the EMONT token.

Ethermon now integrates with Matic. The scalability platform’s Later 2 is a cost-effective and faster network for Ethermon players. Integrating Matic means low gas fees, which is a hurdle at this point for any ETH Dapp. To celebrate this move, Ethermon has released nine fresh Mons for battle. They include Snobbit, Wallopop, Hambrisk and Moonara.

To raise your Mons, you, first, need a Dapper or Metamask wallet and a little Ether. Dapper is ideal for beginner crypto wallet users because it installs as a Chrome extension and initially allows you to play Ethermon with zero gas charges.

As you build game progress, Dapper will give you ten gas-free Ethereum transactions per week, a feature that will save you a tidy sum in Ether in the gaming environment.

With an active wallet, sign up at Ethermon.io and start gaming. Your account will receive a free starter Mon from the game’s store. The game has three free Mons on offer. Catch your Mon using the game’s blue button, and you are good to go. The transaction may take a few minutes before it is verified.

Overtime, you will need more Ethermon monsters to experience all that the game has to offer. Ethermon has about 160 Mons, and each Mon has 1 to 3 species. They include Insect, Water, Leaf, Rock, Fire, Lightning, Neutral, Ice, Dragon, Phantom, Combat, Flyer, and Mystic Mons.

Each of these species has unique superior skills for the battle thrill. However, you cannot pick more than one Mon from the same species. The ultimate gamer will have their Mons winning more XP in battles and becoming more assertive. They will evolve into mighty Mons or lay eggs for new Mons.

Players can also buy powerful Mons at the Ethermon marketplace. Mons from the market have a higher price tag since they are trained and powerful. Holding EMONT offers you numerous perks and better status. The royalty status, for instance, will produce higher energy during game play and open doors to exclusive game environments.

The demand for engaging monster training games such as Pokémon Go or Ethermon is insatiable. As an illustration, Pokémon Go was the third most popular game by player spending in 2020, coming right behind PUBG Mobile and Honor of Kings.

Younger age groups spend most of their pocket money on gaming-related digital purchases. On Ethermon, they can enjoy their favorite role-playing and monster-catching game in a virtual play-to-earn environment.

By combining NFTs, the EMON token, MASK credits, and 3D gameplay at Decentraland, Ethermon has an excellent opportunity to onboard many gamers that want to catch, rear and train their monsters, in a free and fair gaming environment. Ethermon Polkastarter IDO for the Ethermon community is taking place May 18th.
