There are several different NPCs you can interact with in the world of Elden Ring, but Blaidd, the Half-Wolf seems to be the one that people love the most. Between his awesome appearance, charming voice, and interesting pieces of dialogue, Blaidd is one of the most unique and fascinating characters that players can come across while exploring the Lands Between.

With that said, it can be tough to know how to meet Blaidd and complete his questline without a guide due to the opaque nature of FromSoftware's NPC quests and interactions. In this article, we'll go over everything you need to know about Blaidd's questline, including how to meet him and what you'll need to do to progress each stage of his quest.

Meeting Blaidd and killing Bloodhound Knight Darriwil

Elden Ring: How to complete Blaidd's quest (2)

To start Blaidd's questline, you'll need to travel to the Mistwood Ruins in eastern Limgrave during nighttime hours. There, you'll hear Blaidd howling up in a tower in the ruins; for now, you can't get him to come down, so head to the Church of Elleh, which is located just north of The First Step Site of Grace where you started the game. Once you get there, speak to the Merchant Kale NPC and ask him about the howling. He will teach you the Finger Snap gesture and suggest that you should use it where you heard Blaidd howling.

Once you do, Blaidd will hop down and introduce himself. He'll then tell you that he's looking for a man called Darriwil and that you should contact him if you find him. The boss he's referring to, Bloodhound Knight Darriwil, can be found by activating the Forlorn Hound Evergaol in southern Limgrave, right next to the bridge that leads to the Weeping Peninsula.

Note that Blaidd's summon sign will be on the ground in the evergaol during the fight, allowing you to summon him as an ally.

Once you defeat Darriwil, Blaidd will appear and thank you for assisting him and will give you a Smithing Stone [2]. He will then bid you farewell, stating that he hopes to meet you again in the future.

Helping Blaidd serve Ranni the Witch

The next step of Blaidd's quest requires you to begin Ranni's, which you can do by making your way through the Caria Manor in northern Liurnia of the Lakes and speaking to her at the top of Ranni's Rise. She will tell you that Blaidd is one of her loyal followers and that you should speak with him, as well as her other servants, in the lower section of her tower. Do so, and he will mention that he will meet you in the Siofra River area to try to figure out how to access Nokron, Eternal City and get its treasure for Ranni. You can access this area from the Siofra River Well in eastern Limgrave, within the Mistwood Forest.

Once you're in the Siofra River region, travel alongside its eastern edge until you come across Blaidd. He will mention that he hasn't been able to find a way into Nokron, Eternal City, and that you should go ask Seluvis, another of Ranni's servants, for advice. You can find Seluvis in Seluvis' Rise, a tower located directly southeast of Ranni's Rise.

Seluvis will tell you of a sorceress named Sellen who may be able to provide information about how to reach Nokron, and will give you a letter to give to her. You can find Sellen in the Waypoint Ruins in central Limgrave, behind a stone door that can only be opened after you kill the Mad Pumpkin Head miniboss there. She will tell you that to reach Nokron, you will need to find and defeat Starscourge Radahn to end the stasis he placed the stars in. You then need to return to Blaidd in the Siofra River and tell him about Sellen's advice. Blaidd agrees to meet you in Redmane Castle in Caelid and fight Radahn alongside you.

To progress the quest and fight Radahn at Redmane Castle, head to southeastern Caelid, where you'll find a bridge that leads to the castle. Make your way inside until you reach the Chamber Outside the Plaza Site of Grace in a small room, then enter the castle courtyard and greet Blaidd. Then speak to the host of the Radahn "festival" and tell him you're ready to fight Radahn. You can then begin the fight by traveling through the portal on the northern beach of the island the castle is on. The festival host NPC will explain how to reach it.

Radahn is a tough fight, but you can definitely take him down if you remain patient, learn his attacks, and summon all of the NPCs available in the fight (including Blaidd) to distract him. Read our full boss guide on how to beat Starscourge Radahn for more detailed and in-depth tips, tricks, and strategies for defeating Radahn. Once Radahn is defeated and his hold over the stars fades, a falling star will strike Limgrave, creating an entrance to Nokron. Before you leave Radahn's arena, though, speak with Blaidd at the nearby Site of Grace that spawns. He will comment that he will meet you "where the star bit the earth."

Finishing Ranni's questline

Elden Ring: How to complete Blaidd's quest (11)

You'll next need to make your way into Nokron to find its treasure for Ranni, but before you go there, you should return to the Forlorn Hound Evergaol where you fought Bloodhound Knight Darriwil. There, you'll hear Blaidd's distinctive howling, and when you interact with the Evergaol you'll be greeted by Blaidd himself. Blaidd will explain that Ranni's giant blacksmith servant, Iji, trapped him inside the evergaol out of fear that Blaidd would bring ruin to her. You can either choose to let him out or keep him in the evergaol; he will escape on his own if you don't let him out, so the choice is ultimately meaningless.

After this, you'll need to finish Ranni's questline before you can finish Blaidd's. This process involves entering Nokron, finding its hidden treasure, bringing it back to Ranni, and then completing several other tasks for her until you eventually meet her at the Cathedral of Manus Celes. For a full walkthrough of how to do this, refer to our guide on how to complete Ranni's quest and get the Moonlight Greatsword.

The final encounter with Blaidd

Elden Ring: How to complete Blaidd's quest (12)

Once you finish Ranni's questline, you can finish Blaidd's by fast traveling to the Ranni's Rise Site of Grace and then going to the tower's entrance. There, you'll find Blaidd, who will turn hostile after trying to control himself. You'll then have to defeat Blaidd in combat. Once he dies, you'll get his armor and his signature Royal Greatsword weapon.

The item descriptions of his gear reveal that when the Two Fingers gifted him to Ranni, he was brainwashed to turn against her and kill her if she ever decided to move against them (which she does in her questline). You can then speak to Blacksmith Iji after the fight, who will express sorrow about Blaidd and will wish that he handled the situation with Blaidd differently.

Elden Ring is finally here, and it's available for $60 on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PS5, PS4, and PC. It's one of the best Xbox games you can play right now if you're a fan of challenging RPGs, and we strongly recommend it.
