High quality, re-useable silica granules for drying flowers, leaves & seeds. OurDRY-IT™silica sandcan bere-generated between each use by heating the granules in an oven between 100oC and 120oC for 2 hours (on a non-food use ovenproof tray). For greatest efficiency in regeneration, expose as much of the surface of thesilica gelas possible while in the oven - spread it out thinly on an ovenproof tray. You will know when your silica needs regenerating as it won't swell and increase in weight.
Choose from 150g (a small amount to get started) 650g or 2kg, all in a sealable, re-useable plastic tub or bucket.
How to use:
- Completely cover fresh flowers in dry-it silica sand, cover and leave for 7 to 14 days.
- The process can be sped up by using a microwave on high for 1 minute, and leaving to cool for an hour, although we would still recommend leaving the flowers for at least a week before embedding in resin.</li>
- Re-generate this silica sand between each use by heating the granules in an oven between 100oC and 120oC for 2 hours (on a non-food use ovenproof tray, with all packaging removed).
- Keep out of reach of children
Tip from Teacher Lou: For best results, leave freshly picked flowers at room temperature for a day before encasing them in silica sand. Once dried you will need to be very careful when removing the dried flowers are they will be very delicate, Lou likes to gently tip the sand out of the container into her hand, when she sees the flowers edge she will be able to gently catch it in the palm of her hand therefore avoiding any unwanted damage.

Information on silica dust: Many building products including concrete, tiles, cement products and clay bricks contain silica, as does sand, rocks and granite. Silica dust is usually created when these building products are cut, drilled or otherwise worked on to release fine particles. This form of silica ‘dust’ can be considered harmful to the lungs with prolonged use (in large quantities, over many years). We advise you to wear a mask when using silica and to avoid pouring large amounts in one go.
