It is no secret that Roger & I love to travel!
We try to take a trip 1-2 times every month that range from 1-5 nights.
As you can imagine we love finding new ways to earn a little extra money to fund our love for travel.
So I decided to create a list of creative ways to make extra money for travel.
Some of these range from simple side hustles using your talents to taking on part-time jobs during the holiday season.
Thus far this list has 54 side hustle ideas, but as I discover more ways I’ll be sure to add them below.

1. Start a Blog
I am a firm believer in supporting bloggers!
I know some people prefer to keep other bloggers at a distance & view them as competition, but I believe in the community & that there is always room for more in the blogging community. Blogging as a side hustle or as a full-time job (like I do) is hard work, but it can be very rewarding & can take you around the world, quite literally!

2. Shop through Ebates
Ebates is one of my favorite ways to earn cash back while shopping online!
It can be hard to remember at first, but once you get the hang of clicking through Ebates before you shop online you will be able to start earning money by doing what you already do!

3. Bake & Sell on Social Media
I know people who have started their own bakery & cookie companies simply by sharing their creations on Facebook & Instagram & letting people know that they are going to start selling their baked goods.
I’ve seen some who only sell their baked goods during the holidays while others have created Facebook & Instagram business pages for their new small business.
4. Search Online with Swagbucks
Did you know that you can make money just by surfing the web?

Becoming a virtual assistant is a great way to get your foot in the door of the world of blogging.
If you are interested in blogging, interested in seeing if blogging is for you, or prefer to do behind the scenes work for already established blogs, then becoming a virtual assistant is the perfect sides hustle or secondary job for you!

6. Sell Your Items on Craigslist
A great way to earn some extra cash is to go through your house, closet, attic, & garage & make a pile of anything & everything you haven’t used or worn in a year.
Snap some pictures of each item, look up some comparative prices online, & then list your items on Craigslist.
Just be sure to meet in a very public & safe spot when buying & selling on Craigslist.
7. Use Ibotta while Grocery Shopping

If you have a second home, extra room, or mother-in-law suite you can rent it out on AirB&B to make some extra cash.

11. Flip Items on eBay
My husband is great at eBay!
Buying products low & then selling them for more on eBay is a great way to make money on the side.
And if you love shopping than shopping & reselling on eBay may be just the right side hustle for you!
I know a lot of people who shop at yard sales, flea markets, even the sale section of high-end stores like Anthropologie, & then resell their finds on eBay.
12. Babysit
Babysitting is a great way to make some extra cash on the weeknights & weekends.
13. Take Surveys Online through Inbox Dollars
There are a lot of survey websites out there so it can be hard to find just the right one, but the nice thing about Inbox Dollars is that they start you off on the right foot by giving you $5 just for signing up!

I personally haven’t done this as I don’t need a new bank account, but I’ve heard of banks offering up to $300 for opening a new account with them.
16. Sell Your Photos through Zazzle
If you love to take pictures & are interested in selling them without having to physically create a product then Zazzle is the perfect option for you!
Through Zazzle, you can upload your travel photos to be turned into postcards, mugs, t-shirts, phone cases, bumper stickers, & so much more!
Years ago I set up a Zazzle shop/account, made a few products with my photos, & then promptly forgot about it. I went back into my account recently & discovered that I had made some money. I’m thinking I may need to go back in there & create a new shop from our Ireland adventures!
17. Teach a Class or Skill
If you have any type of talent, skill, or passion you should definitely turn it into a way to make money on the side.
You could teach children how to play guitar, tutor students in geometry, or even teach a cooking class in your home!
18. Test Websites with UserTesting
If you have any spare time during your day & enjoy critiquing websites & blogs than you will love UserTesting.
It’s pretty simple to make money too.
Once you have an account with UserTesting you will visit a website or app, complete a set of tasks while speaking your thoughts out loud, & you will earn $10 per test you complete.

19. Rent Your Wedding Decor
I have a friend whose mother decided to take everything they bought for her daughter’s wedding & use it to create their own event rental boutique.

It’s like a mini vacation for you too, it’s basically a staycation while getting paid!
21. Drive for Uber
If you have a vehicle, love to drive, & have spare time then this may be perfect for you!

Decluttering your space is always really refreshing, but making some extra cash just by getting rid of some of your excesses is even better!

I’ve not personally used this program, but I am absolutely fascinated by it!
You basically earn cash prizes for losing weight & there are several ways to do it. You can make a personal weight loss bet, get your friends together for a team weight loss challenge, or compete in a corporate wellness program.

24. Pet Sit or Become a Pet Walker
If you live in a large neighborhood, or even a small city, becoming a pet sitter or pet walker may be a nice way to get some exercise, get to know your neighborhood, & get some extra snuggles in with the cute puppy next door.

If you don’t feel comfortable driving strangers around, UberEats may be a better fit for you & your car. Although the yummy smells may make you hungry!

You aren’t guaranteed money for entering contests & giveaways, but there is always a (small) chance you may win!
A good way to increase your odds is to follow small bloggers who like to share giveaways.
Not only will you be supporting a growing blogger’s business through your follow, but your odds of winning will be increased in comparison to entering a giveaway by a blogger who has 100K+ followers.
27. Rent Your Items through Fat Lamma

Whether it’s the start of a new year or summer break has just begun, people are always in school & there is always a need for good tutors!

Growing blogs & websites are always looking for a good editor.
Sometimes bloggers will let their audience know that there is an opening, but often you will need to put yourself out there, submit a resume, & take the time to find the right fit for your editing skills!
33. Recycle
Depending on the state you live in, you could earn some extra cash by recycling cans, bottles, & even scrap metal!
34. Get a Better Savings Account
Saving money is important, but not just any savings account will do.
Make sure you have a good APY so that you can earn a little extra each year to put towards something fun!
35. Write Freelance
If you love to write but aren’t wanting all the additional work of running a blog or website that’s ok!

36. Become a Personal Trainer
There is an AD that keeps playing on my Pandora that says that there is a very massive need for personal trainers right now.
So if you’ve always wanted to become a personal trainer, you should totally do it!
37. Do Mini Photoshoots
If you love taking pictures & have friends & family who are always asking you to take pictures of them you could start offering to do mini photoshoots.
These could be seasonal, for graduations, or just for fun.
Why not make some extra cash by doing what you already love.

38. Offer a Service.
This can be anything!

If you love to clean & organize this may be ideal for you!
You can set your own hours & pick & choose your clients based on yours & their cleaning needs.
40. Be an Extra in a Movie or TV Show
Yes, you can get paid as an extra!
The summer Roger & I were married 42 (with Chadwick Boseman & Harrison Ford) was filming in Chattanooga & Roger spent a day being an extra, you can only see him a few times (for a split second each time) in the film, but about a month later he got a check in the mail!
41. Clean Windows
I don’t mind cleaning windows, but once we have kids I have a feeling cleaning windows will become the bane of my existence.
If you don’t have a fear of heights cleaning windows on houses or even office buildings can be a good way to earn some extra cash for travel.
42. Paint Houses
Finding a good painter at a decent price can be tough.
If you have experience & some references (even some pictures of previous work) promoting yourself as a house painter on the weekends can be a great source of extra income.
43. Pick up a Second Job during the Holidays
Starting in October you will see hiring signs at some of your favorite retailers.
This may be a great way to even earn extra cash or even snag a discount at your favorite store for Christmas shopping!
44. Substitute Teach
You don’t have to have a teaching degree to substitute teach.
My mom was a substitute teacher all through my grade school & high school years. She was definitely my favorite substitute teacher!
45. Become an ACT or SAT Test Supervisor
My mom also did this throughout my childhood.
You have to be extra quite & it takes most of the day, but it can pay better than substitute teaching!
46. Be a Tour Guide
If you know your city or town like the back of your hand you may be a perfect fit as a tour guide for a local company. Or you could even start your own!
47. Lifeguarding
Depending on where you live this may be a seasonal job. But there are always indoor pools!
48. Mowing Lawns
This too can be seasonal, but with all of the rain, we’ve been getting these last two summers having someone else keep up with mowing your grass can be a huge help & a great money earner for you!
49. Referee Sporting Events (even little league)
There is some training involved here, but this is a great second job for the evenings & weekends!
50. Become an Assistant
This could be for a work-at-home mom, an elderly couple, or simply someone who is juggling too many things at once. Your job could range from household chores to running errands.
51. Sell or Donate Blood, Plasma, etc.
Yes, I know people who do this on a regular basis. You can give plasma two times in a seven day period.
52. Rent Your Garage or Bonus Area
Have some extra space you aren’t using? Someone may be dreaming of renting a space like yours for practicing with their band or simply for storage.
53. Start Investing
If you’ve always been interested in investing, but you aren’t sure what to invest in, start with brands, businesses, & companies you already love to dip your toes in the investing field.
I personally have never dabbled in investing, but Roger’s been doing it since high school!
54. Be Involved in Medical Research
If you live near a university hospital chances are there are several studies going on that need paid volunteers!
Just pick up your phone & start calling around.
