Carnation flowers can be added whole, or the petals can be sprinkled over a variety of fresh and cooked dishes. In addition, separate the petals and use as a raw garnish to elevate cakes, salads and pies. The petals can also be pulled off the flower and used to toss through salads. Just like a salad garnish, the petals from the edible flower can also be used to dress savoury canapés and starters. Furthermore, add the edible flowers into co*cktails, mocktails, sorbets or syrups. Carnation petals can also be lightly cooked and paired up with meats, spices and cheeses.
Taste: Carnations are a popular flower with a little spice, there is a hint of clove and nutmeg to its taste, with a more bitter flavour from the base. The colourful blooms have also best been described as sharp and sweet. The petals may also a release a faint ever green aroma.
