Freestanding tub fillers can be placed anywhere there's plumbing access for ultimate design flexibility. Also called floor-mounted faucets, freestanding tub fillers allow design flexibility, because they are plumbed up through the floor, rather than through the wall.

What Is a Tub Filler? Often called tub spouts or faucets, bathtub fillers are plumbing fixtures that deliver hot and cold water to the bathtub. They typically include knobs or a lever (diverters) for adjusting the temperature and flow of the water.

Rough-in valves will not be required for most of our Freestanding faucet. Most of our tub faucets are designed to connect to the supply line directly, please read the installation sheet before you start.

An average soaker tub has a depth of about 23 inches, whereas an average bathtub comes with 15-19 inches of depth. A high-end soaker tub can hold water up to 200-250 gallons, while your average soaker tub can hold up to 100 gallons.

Traditionally, tub fillers are installed on the side of the tub where the drain is located. This ensures efficient drainage and minimizes splashing. However, if your bathroom design calls for it, you have the flexibility to locate the filler away from the drain.

If the tub is a freestanding, high-backed, slipper tub, the faucet should be placed along the lower end for the bather's comfort, and to allow easy access into and out of the tub.

The need to caulk under a free-standing bath would be specific to the bath in question and what the manufacturer recommends. In many cases, no caulk is called for at all, but since some are so lightweight, they can shift around if they are not caulked beneath.

Most tub faucets run at approximately 4 to 7 gallons per minute.

The standard center-to-center measurement for a tub wall mount faucet is 3-3/8". It is still important, however, that you measure the distance between the faucet holes on your tub before making your faucet purchase. Especially on older tubs, the faucet holes can vary anywhere from 3-1/2" up to 8-3/4" on-center.
