Owner and President Joe Giacalone was first introduced to painting by a cousin when he was in high school. Although he enjoyed the work, Joe didn't like the general reputation of painting contractors, who were known largely for their unprofessional service and tendency to cut corners.

White or lighter colors can reflect the sun's heat away from the house, while darker colors tend to absorb it, therefore taking in the warmth.

Dark colors are better absorbing heat whereas lighter colors reflect heat. This keeps the home cooler during the hot months of the year, lowering your cooling costs when you need it most. Any light-colored paint will do, but neutrals are often the way to go. This includes colors like white, beige, and light gray.

If you live in an area with four seasons, try a balanced approach, such as a white, beige or gray exterior with darker contrasting colors on gutters, trim, and shutters. If you live in a place with warm weather throughout the year, you'll want to avoid dark exterior paint colors, such as navy and black.

White is one of the best colors for selling a home because it's simple, timeless, and not influenced by personal taste, which allows potential buyers to see it as their own blank canvas. And when buyers can see your home as a blank canvas, it dramatically increases the pool of buyers you appeal to.

Feng Shui recommends the use of warm and bright colors, as these will bring life and energy to the room. Red is a popular color for Feng Shui, as it is believed to bring luck, wealth, and prosperity. Other warm colors like orange, yellow, or even pink, can be used to brighten and bring energy to a room.

1. White. It's no surprise white came up as the color that stayed the coolest from the results.

White roofing products stay coolest in the sun, reflecting about 60 – 90% of sunlight. However, since about half of sunlight arrives as invisible “near infrared” radiation, we can boost the solar reflectance of dark materials by using special pigments (colorants) that preferentially reflect this invisible light.
