From fishing to bug catching, days on the island are filled with outdoor activities, which include picking, planting and growing flowers. This is an essential part of the game, one that not only will help the player advance their island's image but also get some Nook Miles and a few extra bucks. Here's everything there is to know about flowers so far.
10 They Always Thrive
Something everyone is no doubt excited foris the seasonal changein Animal Crossing and how it changes the look of the island. The good news is that although seasons will come and go, they won't affect flowers that much.
If the player's set on having a pristine garden and selling flowers is their thing, they'll be happy to know that even on the coldest snow days their flowers will still be able to thrive.
9 They're A Bug Farm
Bugs are a great way of earning Nook Miles and bells in the game. However, attracting them can sometimes be a pain and maybe running around the island isn't a player's idea of a good time. Luckily, flowers make the job easier.

Flowers attract a ton of different bugs, so if the player plants a whole garden of them in one location and harvests any other flowers on the island, they'll see a huge concentration of bugs in one area.
8 Key To A 5-Star Island
The main quest of the game is to develop the island into a paradise from absolutely nothing. To do this, the player needs to level up buildings and earn money to unlock certain features, but most importantly, they need to make the island look nice.
One of the main ways of decorating an island is adding a ton of flowers everywhere. This is guaranteed to boost the evaluation level of anyone's island fairly easily.
7 There Are Several Kinds
The game offers a rathercharming variety of different flowers with their own adorable, unique looks. As of this article, the game has introduced cosmos, roses, tulips, pansies, lilies, windflowers, hyacinths and mums.
There's also a chance that in the future players will get to see other flowers introduced into the game, namely violets, which could be a potentially returning species from previous games.
6 Special Flowers
In the past, Animal Crossing has also introduced a variety of special flowers, which can only be attained through very specific conditions. Although New Horizons hasn't introduced any such flowers quite yet, it's likely they'll make a return at some point.

Special flowers include species like dandelions, as well as the infamous Rafflesia, which would only grow on the player's island if they had an incredibly low rating.
5 Flower Uses
Some players might wonder what the point is in growing flowers other than to make bells. Even then, the amount earned isn't significant, so what are flowers needed for? Many DIY decoration recipes actually call for a variety of flowers, including the flower crown.
They can be used as indoor decoration and they can be offered as gifts to villagers of friends within the game.
4 Why Water Them?
Flowers don't need to be watered every single day, but watering them regularly will provide the player with some advantages. For one, by watering the flowers they will grow faster and spawn even more flowers in their direct vicinity.
Moreover, anyone wanting to create hybrids should definitely focus on watering their flowers regularly, since it's a requirement for cross-pollination to occur.
3 There Are Hybrids
There are only a handful of color options available for the player initially when it comes to flowers, which is why creating hybrids is a very tempting and highly recommended task. While it requires a bit of planning and dedication, it's incredibly rewarding in the long run.

By combining two different colors of the same flower and placing them in a checkerboard pattern on the floor, and watering the regularly, the player has the chance of seeing hybrid colors spawn in the free spaces in between.
2 Finding More Flowers
Unfortunately, not every shop and island will have every single type of flower. However, that's sort of the beauty of the game as it encourages the player to venture outside of their island and visit friends of mystery islands in search of new species.
To find a new type of flower, visiting mystery islands often has a chance of bringing the player to a brand new kind of island. Friends will also likely have different flowers on their island, and their shops will have different seeds as well.
1 They Spawn Naturally, Too
The cool thing about flowers is that players don't necessarily need to buy seeds to plant. All islands will spawn with flowers in its northern parts, so once the ladder tool is unlocked, they can easily go and harvest or move any flowers they'd like from this area.
What's even better is that flowers here never disappear permanently, even if they're destroyed by the player. The island naturally continues to spawn flowers in its northern area.
