Boeing General Atomics Aerodynamic Rail Gun Round
Railgun Update from General Atomics on Military.com
General Atomics has recently unveiled its new aerodynamic rail gun round developed for the company by Boeing. The three piece design separates once it's been fired from the rail gun leaving a rocket-shaped projectile that travels much further than the 'hypersonic bricks' the rails gun had previously been firing.
When fired at 0 degree gun elevation (completely level) at 1600 meters per sec, or around mach 5, the new aerodynamic projectile flew 7km down range before stopping, and that's after pierced a sheet of steel 1/8 of an inch thick 100 yards away from the rail gun.

The live test took place earlier this month using a rail-mounted cart consisting of full scale front-end of an F-35, the ejection seat, a mannequin and an array of sensors, all powered by a rocket engine. The test lasted just 3 seconds, during which time the car reached speeds of 600mph, and the team took a whopping 2.4 million readings.

The Navy wants laser so bad in fact that it has also funded the development of another two laser-weapons. Raytheon were awarded a contract for the development of another solid state laser, Laser Weapons System (LaWS), a laser upgrade to the Phalanx Close-In Weapons System (CIWS) already mounted on many war ships. During its testing phase, the LaWS has already shot down a UAV traveling at 300mph at a distance of 2km.
And another alternative system known as the Free Electron Laser (FEL) is being development following research conducted by ONR. The FEL uses super charged electron streams that operate along multiple wave lengths, to produce a beam of light that could be more powerful than the SSL.

This open-source application maps the information that your iPhone is recording about your movements. It doesn't record anything itself, it only displays files that are already hidden on your computer.
If you run it on an OS X machine that you've been syncing with an iPhone or an iPad with cellular plan, it will scan through the backup files that are automatically made, looking for the hidden file containing your location. If it finds this file, it will then display the location history on the map.

DIY Machete Shooting Slingshot
Shooting Machetes with the Slingshot from JoergSprave on YouTube.
I'm not really sure whether this qualifies as a slingshot or crossbow, although the slimlined design would probably have it labeled under the former category. Nevertheless, this simple weapon can be extremely devastating, given the right circ*mstance of course.
As with all slingshots or crossbow, the fire mechanism makes use of a band of rubber. With the rubber contort and hooked atop a simple lifting mechanism, one easy push launches the machete from the weapon, with a rather amazing albeit short-range, accuracy.
What is THX Display Certification
THX is an acronym synonymous with cinema, but what does it actually mean? And what exactly are you paying extra for when purchasing a THX certified sound system?
THX is set of audio and video standards that ensure movie's are reproduced with the same stunning clarity and high-fidelity found in the filmmaker's studio. Nowadays THX is typically found in many high-end home theater, studio and gaming products as an out-of-the-box setting that can be switched on at the touch of button to enjoy a cinema quality experience.
The THX certification was developed by George Lucas in 1983 in order to create a standard for cinema quality audio and video. At first the certificate was only given to movie theater systems however, as technology progressed and home theaters became more popular, the THX standard soon made its way to products on the consumer market.
