Get rid of soap scum

Vaseline is an easy way to get rid of soap scum. Dab a small amount to bathroom surfaces and allow to sit for a few minutes. Wipe away with a soft cloth and admire the look of your practically new bathroom. Bonus- is it also a great lubricate for faucet handles.

To use while painting

Vaseline can be used as a substitute for painter’s tape on touch ups. Apply a layer to surfaces you want to protect from paint such as door knobs, windows or hard surfaced floors. It is easy to wipe away when you are done. It can also be used to add texture to paint. It does not allow paint to adhere to surfaces so you can easily create distressed looks by applying a little to a brush and painting surfaces you don’t want paint to stick.

Lubricate lightbulbs

Vaseline can stop rust from becoming a problem. Use a little Vaseline on the metal threads of new lightbulbs before screwing them in. It will make changing the light bulb easier when the lightbulb burns out.

Silence squeaks

Use Vaseline as a substitute for WD-40 by apply a layer on squeaky or sticking hinges of doors, cabinets and windows and on the tracks of sliding glass doors and on the door seal of your refrigerator.

Remove stains

Vaseline can remove candle wax and crayons stains from hard surfaces such as walls and floors.

Stop rust on tools

To keep tools in top condition rub a little Vaseline on them as part of maintaining them.

Keep pests at bay

You can use Vaseline to ward off ants and bugs by placing a thin layer on windows, opening of doors and other areas you see them crawling from. It will act a barrier.

Repair wood stains

Vaseline can bring the life back to old wood furniture and even make stains less noticeable. It is also a great wood polish. Rub Vaseline on the area and let sit for 24 hours to get the best results.
