I really do like flowers, even though unfortunately, I’m oversensitive to many pollens and scents… So it’s mostly flowers outside for me… But in Paimpol, Brittany, where I live, I don’t have a garden 😖 I do however have a tiny patio with many planters!!

fleur-de-lis, (French: “lily flower”) , also spelled fleur-de-lys, also called flower-de-luce, stylized emblem or device much used in ornamentation and, particularly, in heraldry, long associated with the French crown.
These include such wonderful types as Bourbons, Moss roses and Centifolias and historic named varieties such as Souvenir de Malmaison, Louise Odier, Gloire de Dijon, Cuisse de Nymphe (Maiden's Blush), and even one called Chapeau de Napoléon.
The Iris, also called fleur-de-lis, has been officially representing the country of France since the 12th century as both the country's insignia and national emblem. Before that, it was the official flower of the Roman Empire's ruling class.
The red rose is perhaps the most universally recognized symbol of love. In France, it's associated with both passion and enduring love. Incorporating red roses into your wedding bouquet or decor expresses the profound love and desire you share as a couple.
A sprig of le muguet is traditionally given to loved ones to bring good fortune for the year ahead. Long associated with spring, renewal and luck, lily of the valley is given as a gift in France on 1 May, a public holiday known as La Fête du Muguet.
The fleur-de-lis has been used by French royalty ever since the Franks united under a single ruler, King Clovis I. When Clovis was crowned, an ampulla with a fleur-de-lis insignia was used to anoint him as king.
Common funeral flowers in France include lilies, chrysanthemums, roses, carnations, and orchids. These flowers are popular choices for funeral arrangements and wreaths and are often used to express love, respect, and sympathy.

There are two French phrases that can be translated as 'beautiful flowers': jolies fleurs (pronounced: zhoh-LEE fluhr) belles fleurs (pronounced: behl fluhr)
