3 Things You Can Do to Get Max Value From Your Appraiser
#1. Improve your home’s condition.
Before the appraiser comes, make sure you’ve made all necessary repairs. Things like leaky faucets, creaky doors and broken windows can put a big ding in your home’s value, so make sure everything’s up to par before the appraiser comes.
#2. Clean the house.
Make sure you’ve cleaned the house from top to bottom. You don’t have to stage it or anything – unless, of course, it’s still on the market and more buyers might come by – but you do need to make sure it’s incredibly clean and that the appraiser can access all the areas he or she needs to access. While you’re at it, make sure your landscaping looks good and your yard is clean, too.

#3. Move things that get in the way.
Your appraiser will need to get into the attic and basem*nt to check out your home’s systems and its square footage. Make sure there’s nothing that’ll get in your appraiser’s way so you can make the whole process easier – and leave a favorable impression on the appraiser while you’re at it.
