Pyrex is the king of practical kitchenware! Those resilient casserole dishes and percolators have been the mainstays of kitchens the world over.

But it might surprise you to know that vintage Pyrex patterns are becoming increasingly collectable. And some of them can fetch large sums of money.

We’re going to take a look at some of the most valuable rare vintage Pyrex patterns out there. And we’ll tell you just how much that old casserole could be worth!

1. Gooseberry Nesting Bowls $118

This set of four nesting bowls shows how even a relatively common vintage pattern can command a decent price. These casserole dishes would have been inexpensive kitchen accessories when they were first made. But now their vintage chic means they’re sought after by many buyers.

This set was in excellent condition when it came up for sale online in 2022. It was free of chips and nibbles, with lovely smooth edges. Only the largest dish had a few scratches.

The pattern of gooseberries and leaves is a simple black transfer on a white ground. So it will fit well with almost any kitchen décor.

The set attracted plenty of interest from buyers, and after 20 bids it sold for $118.

2. Snowflake Divided Oval Casserole $554

Pyrex collectors who love to display their cookware at Christmas will love this divided oval casserole dish! It’s decorated with a festive pattern of white snowflakes on a black ground.

The modern colors look great with the retro design. And this is a very practical item too. It will hold 1.5 quarts, with two separate sections, and has a lid to keep everything warm. This would be the perfect dish to serve up some vegetables or trimmings for your Christmas lunch.

It was in good condition when it was presented for sale in 2022. There were just a few scratches, as you’d expect with a vintage item. And one buyer was happy to snap it up for $554.

3. Green Gooseberry Complete Junior Space Saver Casserole Set $640

This set of three casserole dishes comes complete with their glass lids. It’s a variation on the gooseberry design we saw earlier. In this case the pattern is slightly simpler. And it’s in a fresh color combination of white on a dark green ground.

Each of the casseroles has twin handles to make it easy to carry from oven to table. And the smaller dimensions of the space saver set are great for kitchens where storage is tight. The smallest casserole will hold a pint, the medium 1.5 pints, and the largest 1.75 pints.

The set was put up for sale in 2022, free from any chips or cracks to either dishes or lids. The only blemishes were a few scratches from everyday wear and tear.

The stylish mid-century design attracted lots of bidders. By the time the online auction had timed out, over 50 bids had been received. The final price was just shy of $640.

4. Turquoise Snowflake Dish with Divider $710

This is another example that shows just how popular festive patterns are amongst collectors of Pyrex. The dish has a capacity of 1.5 quarts, and it’s divided into two sections for different vegetables.

There’s no lid with this one. And there were a couple of spots on the bottom – potentially removeable with determination and elbow grease. But there were no chips or cracks. And the color combination of white pattern on a turquoise ground was very appealing to collectors.

It attracted over 20 bids when it came up for sale in 2022. The buyer had to pay $710 to take it home.

5. Pink Stems Oval Casserole Server $720

This rare “pink stems” pattern screams retro cool. It features a simple geometric pattern of stylized white stalks against a sugar pink ground.

It had been loved and used when it was put up for sale in 2022. There was a small chip at the bottom of the lid, noticeable only when running a finger along the glass. When held to the light, a few white dots were visible on the pink. And there were a few scratches on the bottom too.

But it still looked great. And with a capacity of 1.5 quarts, it was an eminently practical piece of oven-to-tableware.

After a competitive online bidding process, the server sold for $720.

6. 1963 Blue Chip Week Casserole Dish $750

From time to time, Pyrex made cookware specially customized for particular companies or gatherings. And this 1963 casserole dish is a great example. It was produced to mark “Blue Chip Week”, which ran from 21 to 27 April that year.

Little is known about the event. It’s likely, though, that the dish was produced for employees of Corning Glass, the makers of Pyrex. It holds a quart, and comes with a lid to keep the contents warm.

There are only a few of these dishes around, which makes them very desirable to collectors. This one, in good condition with just one chip on the handle, made $750 at auction in 2022.

7. Pink Butterprint Round Casserole Set $800

This set of three casserole dishes and lids has a white ground with a pretty pink pattern. It depicts a couple in traditional farm dress together with various motifs of rural life – corn, flowers and a rooster.

The rare pattern dates from the 1950s. And what made this set particularly special was that it had only ever been used as a display piece. All three dishes were therefore in mint condition.

The lids weren’t quite so good. They didn’t have chips or nibbles – but two of the three had some clouding to the glass.

The set came up for sale in 2022, and made its seller a handsome $800.

8. Pink Stripe Mixing Bowls $800

Don’t ask us why, but there’s something particularly pleasing about a striped mixing bowl! And this set of three bowls is especially lovely, with a sweet pink and white color way.

The bowls date from the latter half of the 1960s. They’re designed to nest inside each other, so they don’t take up much space.

All three were in great condition when they came to the market in 2022. There were a few scratches from a lifetime of use. But there were no chips, fleabites or cracks.

The seller was asking $850 for all three, but settled for a lower offer.

9. Orange Butterprint Cinderella Bowls $820

This is the second set of bowls bearing the Butterprint design to make our list. In this one, the design is printed in orange on a white ground. And there’s the familiar farming couple together with sheaves of wheat.

This is a complete set of four bowls without lids. In one of the bowls, the print is a slightly darker orange than the others. Another of the bowls has a few scratches inside.

But that didn’t put off one collector! The set was offered for sale in 2022 at a price of $875, and the seller accepted a lower offer.

10. Turquoise Hostess Bowl and Lid $910

This simple and rather beautiful hostess bowl and lid is Pyrex model number 025. It’s a rare find for collectors, because these were most often produced in red or yellow.

Not all turquoise Pyrex is the same shade, though. Pyrex also made turquoise chip and dip sets, and these were slightly lighter than the hostess bowl. This is a lovely deep color, with a shiny gloss finish.

It dates from between 1949 and 1959. It has a clean white interior, but a few exterior scratches to both the bowl and lid. It nevertheless attracted plenty of bids when it was auctioned online. The final price was $910.

11. Turquoise Snowflake Round Cake Pan $1,300

We’ve already seen how popular this pattern of white snowflakes on a turquoise ground is amongst Pyrex collectors. And this lovely round cake pan is the perfect piece of cookware to get into the festive spirit!

It’s a rare model too, which whetted the appetite of collectors. And it was presented without any chips, nibbles or cracks to detract from its beauty or practicality. The only flaw was a patch of faint discoloration on one of the two handles.

It came up for sale in 2022, and one Pyrex lover bought it for $1,300.

12. Terra 402 Yellow Stripe Mixing Bowl $1,300

You’d have to love a mixing bowl a whole lot to pay four figures for it. But that’s exactly the kind of adoration inspired by this rare Pyrex example!

The pattern is called Terra, and it’s a simple design of bands of dark and paler yellow of varying widths. The yellow color way is what makes this so rare and collectable.

The bowl has a capacity of 1.5 quarts. And while it looked great, it did have some scratches when it was put up for sale in 2022.

The seller was asking the princely sum of $1,300. They were, though, prepared to accept a lower offer.

13. Atomic Eyes Chip and Dip Bowl Set $1,440

This striking chip and dip set features a white ground with a blue geometric design that resembles eyes. In the center of each “ eye”is a white circle with a blue cross in the middle.

The pattern is rare, and this example was offered for sale in its original box. Also included was the stand for the bowls.

The smaller bowl bore some signs of wear to the base. And the larger bowl had two small areas where the pattern had worn away. But both bowls were complete, with no chips or cracks.

The set attracted plenty of interest when it was auctioned online in 2022. The winning bidder paid $1,440 to secure it.

14. Coral Red Gooseberry Cinderella Bowl Set $1,450

Here’s another example of the gooseberry pattern, so loved by collectors of Pyrex. This one comes in a bright red and white color combination, perfect for a retro kitchen.

The set dates from the 1950s, and includes all four bowls. This makes it rather rare – it’s common to find the two smaller bowls missing. The smallest will hold a pint and the largest 4.5 pints. 1.75 and 2.5-pint bowls complete the set.

There were a few scratches visible on the coral parts of the bowls. But other than that, they were in great condition when they were auctioned in 2022. They attracted over 50 bids, with the eventual buyer having to stump up an impressive $1,450.

15. Avocado Spring Blossom Crazy Daisy Casserole $1,640

Avocado green tones were the height of mid-century style. So this Pyrex casserole with avocado Spring Blossom Crazy Daisy pattern would have been hugely fashionable when it was manufactured.

It’s oval and has a generous 2-quart capacity. And the simple, almost cartoonish, pattern of flowers on the side is a great example of 1970s design.

It comes with a glass lid, and both the lid and casserole are in good condition. Feverish bidding saw it sell online in 2022 for $1,640.

16. 1961 Promo Gourmet Gold Casserole $2,000

This is an exceptionally rare casserole dish with lid. The Gourmet Gold was produced in 1961 as a special promotion. As a result, it’s catnip for collectors.

The pattern resembles an orange bar code around the outside. The shape is unusual too, slightly deeper than most Pyrex casseroles.

It came up for auction online in 2022, and it wasn’t in perfect condition. There was a sliver of glass missing from the underside of the lid. And everyday wear and tear had abraded part of the pattern.

Nevertheless, its rarity made it highly desirable. The price when the virtual hammer fell? $2,000.

17. Lucky in Love Vintage Casserole $4,000

This gorgeous pattern is the height of Pyrex loveliness! It features a combination of pink hearts and green shamrocks and blades of grass. They look great against the clean white ground.

The casserole comes with a lid, and has straight, sloping sides. It’s deep too – not unlike the shape of the $2,000 Gourmet Gold promotional casserole.

But this one got the bidders even more excited. It sold on an online auction site in 2015 for an eyewatering $4,000.
