What is a status jar? ›

Libbey Tall Status jar is the perfect modern or contemporary candle container to add to your line. The Status' sleek and urban style will showcase your candles or store items in a way that works with all interiors. We recommend using a maximum of 16 oz. of wax to wick the container easier.

Putting the jar over the candle keeps oxygen from outside the jar from getting in. The reaction can only use the oxygen that is already in the jar. So, when that oxygen is used up, the reaction can't keep going. Running out of oxygen makes the flame go out.

Canning jars are made to withstand a lot of heat, so they make an excellent choice. Thin glass is very susceptible to shattering, so using things like wine glasses is not recommended. Other types of containers that won't shatter from the heat of a candle include oven-safe ceramics, cast iron and tins.

Recommended Sizes:

12 oz glass bottle: 4.00" x 3.50" 22 oz glass bottle: 4.00" x 8.50" 32 oz glass bottle: 6.00" x 9.50" 32 oz glass bottle (optional): 6.00" x 10.00" for a bit more coverage around your mini-growler.

If this is your first time making soy wax candles, what you may want to do is just buy 2 pounds of wax from some place like Michaels. However, the most common size for scented candles is between 7 and 14 ounces, with a burn time of around 40 to 60 hours. This size is popular among consumers because it is affordable, lasts long enough to enjoy, and provides a strong fragrance.

Most candle jars and glass vessels are listed with how many fluid ounces of water they can hold. A “10 oz glass jar” on Jar Store refers to the fact that the vessel in question can hold up to 10 ounces of water. However, that 10 oz glass jar would actually hold 8 ounces of wax.

You can use almost any vessel that can withstand heat: teacups, jelly jars, egg cups, etc., but we'll be focusing on a creative classic: mason jars. Experiment with colors and fragrances until you achieve the sweet smell of success.

Your label's height should be a bit less than the height of the jar. For instance, if your jar is 6” tall, plan to have your label be between 4.5” and 5.5” tall.

The larger 2.5 inch round label looks best on 16 oz & larger bottles.

Transparent material with matte or glossy finish

Clear plastic candle labels are probably the closest you can get to a printed-on look. They don't distract from the lovely candle container you use as they allow your label design to seamlessly blend in, especially on clear glass containers.
