Airbnb Welcome Sign

Something to greet your guests as soon as they walk in will stand out for sure!

In my beach bungalow, we have a full “welcome table” that includes a large welcome sign with local activities, our house manual/booklet, a guest book, and a few other things.

One of my favorite things I bought when I was starting my first Airbnb was this custom surfboard house sign.

You can also leave a welcome basket for each guest in a location like this.

Guests can see it as soon as they walk in the front door!

We used a driftwood console table under the sign as our welcome table where we display our Airbnb Welcome Sign! I got the driftwood table from Facebook Marketplace but here is a similar one: Boothbay Console Table

House Rules And Expectations Sign

By posting your house rules in plain site, this will help guests know what is expected of them while they are staying in your home.

You should always post your house rules on your Airbnb listing so that the guests agree to them before booking a reservation. But having them in your home as well is important.

This is perhaps the most important sign to post in your Airbnb home. Some common house rules include no smoking, no parties, and quiet hours.

Here is an example of some “HOUSE RULES” that I have posted in my Beach Life Bungalow.

  • Please be respectful of the property and the neighbors at all times.
  • No parties or events. Registered guests only.
  • No pets without prior consent of the owner.
  • No smoking inside the house. There is an ash tray on the back table – please use it and empty before your stay is over.
  • If you use the grill, please make sure the gas is turned off when not in use and the grates are wiped down.
  • If you damage something, please let us know so we can arrange for its replacement or repair.
  • Use the check out instructions to prepare for your departure
  • Enjoy yourself and the Florida sunshine!

Another thing to note about house rules is that you can send these to your guests over Airbnb messenger prior to their stay.

By using Airbnb message templates, these can get sent to each upcoming guest automatically. Set a schedule for things like house rules and check in information that are the same every time!

No Smoking Airbnb Sign

As part of your rules, you should include something about smoking. There will definitely be guests that come that are smokers.

Post a No Smoking Sign in your Airbnb to let guests know that you do not allow this.

I personally do not want anyone smoking inside of my Airbnb properties. I do mention that they are allowed to smoke outside. You can provide an ashtray so that they can use that instead of ash-ing on your property.

Pet Rules Sign For Your Airbnb

Are you a pet friendly rental property? Having a pet rules sign posted somewhere in your space will let guests know what is expected of them.

As much as we all love our pets, make sure you set boundaries for things like picking up pet poop, if they are allowed on the furniture, or if you request the guest to put their pet in a crate while going out.

Local Amenities & Things To Do Sign

Especially if your Airbnb is located in a town that attracts tourists… you’ll want to have some sort of “thing to do” sign. I found this one on Etsy that doubles as a “Welcome” poster and lists out restaurants and adventures.

Upcoming guests sometimes ask me for recommendations of things to do or places to eat at in the area. Having a poster or sign in your Airbnb that lists stuff like this out is the perfect amenity.

Since this one I have in The Beach Life Bungalow is pretty large, it’s a great spot to add your social media information or website for future bookings.

Wi-Fi and TV Info Sign

I like to call this “GET CONNECTED” information. Anything that requires a remote or login in your property can be added to this type of sign.

Wi-Fi credentials are one of the first things your guests will look for. Be sure to post this information in a clear and concise manner. This will help them get connected to the internet as soon as they arrive!

Check Out Procedures

Having a formal checkout procedure is a way to guides guests to set things up in the best possible way for your cleaners.

For example, let them know that you want all of the towels in one pile, all of the used linens in another. This will make it a little easier on your cleaning company when they start to do the laundry.

This sign should also include your check out time so that guests are aware of when they need to vacate the premises.

Here is just a sample of what I have included in my own check out list for guests to follow.

  • Remove all linens from the bed and place them in a pile on each bed.
  • Put all dirty bath towels, beach towels, and wash cloths in a pile in the bathtub.
  • Empty the refrigerator of any perishable items.
  • Take out all trash. You can place your trash bags in the large black bin on the side of the house.
  • Clean all dishes and/or place them in the dishwasher and start the cycle before leaving.
  • Turn the thermostat up to 77 – help us conserve energy while the house is unoccupied.
  • Ensure you have all your personal belongings.
  • Ensure all doors are locked and put the keys back in the lockbox by the front door.
  • If anything got damaged during your stay, please let us know so we can correct it for the next guest.
  • Please leave us a review on AirBnb! We hope you had a great experience at The Beach Life Bungalow and look forward to hosting you again soon.

In addition to the things you expect guests to do before leaving, you should also include the check out time.

Airbnb Parking Sign

If your Airbnb property requires guest to park in a certain park, it’s important that you have this displayed somewhere. If there are certain spots that guests can NOT park in, make sure to tell them prior to arriving.

For the spots that you do want them to park in, if they are not your driveway, make sure to hang a reserved parking spot sign like this one.

Airbnb Trash and Recycling Sign

The only way that guests will even consider taking out the trash and recycling for you is if you have it posted in your Airbnb!

If there is no information about the weekly trash pickup, they will assume they don’t need to do anything with it.

Post a trash schedule sign in your kitchen in a location near the trash bin.

I also include it in my welcome booklet on my Airbnb welcome table!

Airbnb Host Rating Sign

What the heck is an Airbnb host rating sign anyway?? This one is new to me! This sign is a way to let guests know how the Airbnb rating scale works.

Some people may be using Airbnb for the first time and they may not know what a review means to a host like you.

By posting a sign or card with this type of information, your guest is more inclined to leave a review and make it 5 stars!

Bathroom Waste Sign

If you have an older house like my first Airbnb, having a sign in your bathrooms like this one is really crucial. My beach bungalow was built in 1942… so of course that means there might be issues with the plumbing at some point.

By telling guests only to flush certain things down the toilet, you can hopefully avoid a lot or all of the issues that may come up.
